Praying to Move Mountains

by Linda Evans Shepherd in Leading Hearts Magazine

I AM LIKE A PRAYER INVESTIGATOR. I HAD TO BE BECAUSE I HAD A MOUNTAIN TO MOVE.
After a violent car crash put my 18-month-old baby into a coma, I needed to know what it would take to touch my daughter through the power of prayer.
Since that fateful day, I’ve made it my mission to understand prayer. I’ve spent hours scouring the Word to discover and understand the prayer secrets it contains, and most importantly, I’ve prayed. I’ve battled. I’ve contended. I’ve sought God. I’ve claimed promises, and I’ve prayed through roadblocks.

I’ve experienced breakthroughs and felt the heartache when God says no. I’ve worked with prayer teams and prayer partners, fought the enemy and prayed with countless people. And yes! I have seen God move. I have seen God answer prayer.

In my new book, When You Need to Move a Mountain, I share what I’ve learned to help readers not only become a person of prayer, but a person who can use prayer to reverse the works of the enemy, to save lives, to be blessed with provision and to flow into God’s best for their lives.

7 Reasons You Should Pray For the Small Stuff

by Linda Evans Shepherd @LindaShepherd in Leading Hearts magazine

“STOP! YOU CAN’T PRAY THAT!” A YOUNG WOMAN ORDERED.

She had just expressed her extreme fear of snakes as we walked through a wooded area.

I had responded by bowing my head and praying, “Dear Lord, please protect us from snakes. May they not harm us, bite us or be seen by us. I pray this in the name of Jesus.”

After being shushed by Ellie’s command, I turned to her. “Stop my prayer? Why?”

“God is too busy for such an unimportant thing.”

God Gave Linda Winning Lottery Numbers —The Reason May Surprise You

by Linda Evans Shepherd @lindashep in Leading Hearts magazine

ONE MORNING, I’D SPENT TIME PRAYING FOR SEVERAL HURTING PEOPLE AT CHURCH. As I prayed for my new friends, the Lord revealed their deeper wounds and secrets. I shared the insights God had given me as I prayed for them. I told them they could really trust God and his great love for them. Their tears turned to peace and their peace turned to joy. How wonderful it was to witness the Lord move so mightily in their lives.

So on this day, knowing I’d heard from the Lord, I headed home. As I clutched the steering wheel, I prayed a silly prayer,

“Lord, if you can speak to me, would you tell me the winning numbers for the upcoming lottery?”

Beware of These 3 Prayer Roadblocks Plus Bonus Recipe for Christmas French Toast

THERE WAS A TIME IN MY LIFE WHEN I EXPECTED GOD TO MOVE ON MY BEHALF SIMPLY BECAUSE I BELONGED TO HIM.So when difficulties and hardships became my companion, I have to admit that my feelings were hurt.

But truth be told, the number one reason I couldn’t get past my difficulties was that of my own prayerlessness. I just wasn’t sure how to bring my problems to God. After all, it didn’t seem as though it was my place to command God. That seemed like witchcraft. And begging God seemed wrong too; especially as God already knew my troubles.

It was a horrible car accident that put my baby into a coma that moved me to search the secrets of prayer. My search helped me to reach out to God and watch in amazement as God reached back to me.

Not only did my daughter wake up from her yearlong coma, but I also discovered the sweetness of God’s presence as I finally learned how to pray.
