Time to Send Up a Panic Prayer?

by Linda Evans Shepherd in Leading Hearts Magazine

Considering that the world is in the panic of a pandemic, I’m want to share a prayer initially intended for a book called Praying Through Your Every Emotion, soon to release from Baker Revell. This book will be a dictionary of emotions complete with a mini-Bible study and accompanied by a paraphrased prayer to correspond with each of the 64 emotions I cover inside the book.

Here’s one I can share with you now, a prayer about the emotion ‘PANIC.’

Uncertain Outcomes

From the Publisher Linda Evans Shepherd in Leading Hearts Magazine

I WANT TO BE A WOMAN OF FAITH. BUT IN THE FACE OF UNCERTAINTIES, I CANNOT ALWAYS FATHOM WHAT GOD IS DOING.

I pray for healing for one, and that one is healed. I pray for healing for another, and that one continues to suffer. How I wish God would let me in on the “why” of it all. But He doesn’t. In fact, it seems to me that God shields His thoughts in mystery and I painfully realize that His ways are not the way I would do things. I mean if I had more “control” of God, I think I would insist He send me important updates:

Thursday, pray for Cindy and Bob, as Bob will lose his job. But don’t worry, I’m giving Bob a better job.

Friday, little Jeffery will be bullied after school and it will be an outrage. But this incident will help to put him on the right path to fulfill My purpose for his life.

Next Monday, Janey will dive into the darkness of drug addiction. It will cost everything, but she’ll finally find me on her darkest night.

Praying to Move Mountains

by Linda Evans Shepherd in Leading Hearts Magazine

I AM LIKE A PRAYER INVESTIGATOR. I HAD TO BE BECAUSE I HAD A MOUNTAIN TO MOVE.
After a violent car crash put my 18-month-old baby into a coma, I needed to know what it would take to touch my daughter through the power of prayer.
Since that fateful day, I’ve made it my mission to understand prayer. I’ve spent hours scouring the Word to discover and understand the prayer secrets it contains, and most importantly, I’ve prayed. I’ve battled. I’ve contended. I’ve sought God. I’ve claimed promises, and I’ve prayed through roadblocks.

I’ve experienced breakthroughs and felt the heartache when God says no. I’ve worked with prayer teams and prayer partners, fought the enemy and prayed with countless people. And yes! I have seen God move. I have seen God answer prayer.

In my new book, When You Need to Move a Mountain, I share what I’ve learned to help readers not only become a person of prayer, but a person who can use prayer to reverse the works of the enemy, to save lives, to be blessed with provision and to flow into God’s best for their lives.

7 Reasons You Should Pray For the Small Stuff

by Linda Evans Shepherd @LindaShepherd in Leading Hearts magazine

“STOP! YOU CAN’T PRAY THAT!” A YOUNG WOMAN ORDERED.

She had just expressed her extreme fear of snakes as we walked through a wooded area.

I had responded by bowing my head and praying, “Dear Lord, please protect us from snakes. May they not harm us, bite us or be seen by us. I pray this in the name of Jesus.”

After being shushed by Ellie’s command, I turned to her. “Stop my prayer? Why?”

“God is too busy for such an unimportant thing.”

Do You Need Refreshment? Pray this Prayer!

By Linda Evans Shepherd in Leading Hearts Magazine

IT’S A NEW DAY, A FRESH SEASON. THE AIR HERE IN COLORADO IS SWEET AFTER DAYS OF RAIN. The grass is green and the crabapple tree in my backyard is filled with fluffy, pink blossoms.

After a deep season of sorrow upon losing my precious daughter Laura, I am feeling a new sweetness in my spirit. I’m letting go of grudges and pain, and joy is overtaking my fog of grief.

Can the human spirit really find this kind of refreshing? Yes, but only when we refuel by the power of God.

Breakthrough Prayer for Friends & Family

Dear Lord.

I praise you that I can enter your gates with thanksgiving and your courts with praise. How I love and worship you. Thank you too that I can bring this dear one _________________ with me, and lay him/her at your feet. As this one is a treasure to you, you love them, and already know about their dilemma. Lord, I too am concerned about their dilemma of _________________.

Lord I ask that you’d (provide, heal, help, transform, save, open the eyes of, bless) this dear one. Increase my love for _________________ as well as your wisdom on how to pray in your will regarding their difficulty.

(Listen quietly before the Lord, then pray anything he reveals to you.)

Also, in the name and authority and power of Jesus and his blood, I cancel any assignment of the enemy regarding this dear one and his/her dilemma.

I praise you Lord you care and are moving in _________________’s life. I leave this dear one with you.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
